GA snow and Holidays

It has been a while since we've written a post because we have had an uneventful month of December. We are NOT complaining! Two things that did happen that were exciting were snow on December 9 and (of course!) the Christmas holidays.

Georgia gets dusting of snow a few times every year, but this year we got an impressive 5 inches at the beginning of December. The great thing was that Jason and I did not have to go out in it at all while it hung around for about 3 days. I even got extra snuggle time and napping in when the snow interrupted the TV signal for a few hours-lucky me! Jason picked a new Netflix show during this time as well.

For the holidays, we went to North Carolina from December 20-24. As we usually get to do, (and we are so grateful for) we saw all of my family in some shape or form while there because everyone takes time away to come see us at my Mama's house. We did an immediate family Christmas get together on Saturday, the 23rd (we always do it the Saturday before Christmas). We ate lunch, took this picture, opened presents, then watched a movie while eating Christmas goodies!!! It was also a lot of fun for Jason to kinda smirk at 3 of us spending an hour putting together a Doc McStuffins Nursery during this time as well. We think it would have taken him about 15 minutes.

Many people know that my Mama has taken it upon herself to use her sewing talents to make quilts for the "price" of a donation to us. (If you go to SUPPORT in the top right of the website and QUILT FUNDRAISING, you can learn more, or click here.) I cannot count the amount of hours, level of love, blood and tears (just kidding! well, maybe tears!), and funds she has raised for us to maintain our life as it is. While she has made others t-shirt quilts and ornaments from ties this year, she SECRETLY began the project of making Jason a quilt back in the Spring. We were actually surprised to learn that it was a SURPRISE to Jason as it has been going on for so long and we all joked that he probably knew about it! As Jason doesn't keep anything that he no longer needs, we had to do some digging to create this quilt. The majority of the shirts are his, but t-shirts were also collected from friends, family, and to be honest a thrift store in Maine when we went this summer! Thank you Tiara Chastain, Danny Florez, and Adon Shaw for donating your own shirts by mailing or sending through me to my Mom.

I do want to point out the "special-ness" of the top right square that says "WINDHAM 15" Thank you to Chad Pulkkinen, the Windham Eagles basketball coach that also played with Jason, for getting this to my mom. Since the fall of 2016, the Windham boy’s basketball program dedicates a “Jacobe Jersey” to an individual each week who works the hardest, is a good teammate and is making his team better with his attitude every day. The idea came to Chad when he learned the news and has said on the team's website about Jason, "Jason Jacobe was and still is a staple of what every kid should strive to be and we hope to rally around him, his family, friends and show him our support." Such a special gift that will always be loved and cherished!

We spend Christmas Day at home relaxing. Jackson got a stocking, of course. We face-timed with Jason's parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece in Maine while opening gifts, watched a lot of football and napped! I got my Christmas surprise on Christmas Day. It was arranged that a neighbor (shout out to Angela) deliver a gift while we were in NC so that I would not know about it. It was painting supplies, easels, canvases, etc. so that I can do one of my favorite things at home! <3 On Tuesday, 12/26 Jason's parents flew to Atlanta and will fly out on New Year's Eve. They were happy to be in slightly warmer weather than Windham's negative temperatures with lots of snow! We spend a lot of time together, I got to go get my nails painted :) and do a little shopping/errand running. Among cooking on the grill every night!!!, Diana made me cookies and home-made meatballs to freeze!
