Support

The support we have gotten has been in many forms. Family and friends have flown and driven to Atlanta to visit. We have been sent cards, "date nights" gift cards, and pictures. We have been made crock pot meals, meals to freeze and eat later, meals sent or given in a variety of ways right to our door. We have had our yard cleaned and assistance with getting equipment we need. We have been able to call a neighbor to help and they drop everything to do whatever we need. The advice and help from our parents has been instrumental in helping us with the "what do we need to do next." The personal messages, texts, phone calls, and FaceTime love have been nothing short of overwhelming.

This website idea started because we are asked "What can we do to help?" Just asking is helping, but friends and family always seem to want to do more.

There are not words that we can use to thank you for your support. We appreciate the support, love, words of hope and encouragement.

THANK YOU, JASON AND LIZ

ALS 2017 Walk Atlanta Chapter Images (JJJOURNEY !) 10-07-2017014044 (1).jpg

The 2018 Walk in Atlanta date has been set!  The walk will happen on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  It will start at 10am and is located (as in previous years) at the Georgia World Congress Center.

On October 7, 2017, family and friends traveled or supported virtually in the Walk to Defeat ALS for a second year raising close to $57,000 for the ALS association of Georgia.  Our team came in 1st place in our fundraising efforts and the Atlanta walk became to 2nd largest in the US in  2017 as well.

Below is the link to support our team and the ALS association in the 2018 walk.

If you feel the need to give personally, here is a way donate. We have used the funds to purchase a power wheelchair accessible van in March 2017.  Funds are still going towards payments on the van, but we also anticipate the purchase of a Tobii Dynavox product for communication.

This is actually a 2nd account set up in January 2017. Read more about the first set up by a friend in the blog.

My high school basketball team is in support of ALS. During the 2016-2017 season, the "Jacobe Jersey" was introduced to players who work the hardest, is a good teammate and is making his team better with his attitude everyday in my honot.  Click on their website to see what they are doing for support.

Benders Tavern in Greensboro, North Carolina holds an annual Charity golf tournament to raise funds.  In an amazing show of kindness and love, our friend Amber Howard got us nominated and we were chosen as recipients of some of the funds raised by this event. The golf tournament took place on May 6, 2017 at  Pine Knolls Golf Course in Kernersville, North Carolina.  Read about the event in the blog "So Many Good Things"

Elizabeth's mother, Teresa, is using a personal hobby to help raise awareness and funds to support us.  She makes t-shirt quilts, ornaments, and is doing silent auctions for already made quilts.  Click here for images of what she has made in the past, raffles and winners, and ideas for a project you may want completed.

She also uses her baking talents to do bake sale fundraising for the Walk to Defeat ALS

Elizabeth's post:

A friend and coworker of mine from when I worked at Emory has been thinking about doing a fund raiser for us. As a consultant of the skin care products, Gerrie Thomas gets compensated for her orders and recruits and plans to donate her November work to us.

From November 1-Thanksgiving 2017, via Facebook, Gerrie will give you all the product details about Rodan and Fields. Gerrie is amazing, so easy to talk to, and just the sweetest for doing this for us.  She is super woman herself taking care of 3 girls at home and worried about us on the side-just shows the kind of person she is. It is hard to take care of others if you don't take care of yourself, so if you've considered trying the products-this is your perfect opportunity.

Message me if you want to join the group to get products.
